Maryville tn Wedding
Maryville is a city in and the county seat of Blount CountyGR6, United States. The city is located 20 miles south of Knoxville. Maryville's population was 23,120 at the 2000 U.S. census. It is included in the Knoxville, Tennessee Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The city is home to Maryville College, the corporate headquarters of the Ruby Tuesday casual dining restaurant chain, and Tennessee State Champion high school teams in football (1970, 1976, and 1978 in Class AA, and 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005 in Class 4A) and baseball (1989 in Class AAA). In 1785, Revolutionary War veteran John Craig founded a wooden pallisade known as Fort Craig at what is now Maryville in order to defend settlers against attacks from Native American tribes. Craig donated 50 acres (200,000 m) next to his fort for the founding of a new town. Maryville was incorporated as a city on July 11, 1795 and named in honor of Mary Grainger Blount, wife of territorial governor William Blount, for whom Blount County is named.
The family of Sam Houston moved to Maryville in 1808, when Houston was 15. He taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Maryville before he began his military and political career.
